Regeneration in Liscard is moving forward, as work is set to begin on creating specific plans for improvements to the town centre.
As reported by the Wirral View, a team will be allocated to move forward with the exciting next step of the Liscard Regeneration Programme. This will support the development of the scheme through planning to delivery.
The commission will include preparing detailed designs, surveys, investigations and preliminary work before construction can start.
The budget for the scheme is around £3.4 million, and is funded through the Local Regeneration Fund. This was approved by the Council's Economy, Regeneration and Housing Committee back in January.
Plans to revitalise the town are also backed by the Government's Levelling Up Fund 3 programme. Total investment into this fund includes £10.78 million, part of the Local Regeneration Fund.
The Local Regeneration Fund also works on other projects in the area. They are set to demolish the former government building off Seaview Road for new houses.
Liscard Neighbourhood Network is leading guidance on the regeneration. The framework creates an idea of the town that is community-focused and ensures Liscard has potential for economic growth.
Aiming to improve the experiences of residents, businesses and visitors, it aims to identify long-term improvements for the town centre by guiding council investments in the area.
Councillor Mark Skillicorn, Chair of the Economy, Regeneration and Housing Committee, said in a statement: "This is an important step forward in bringing real improvements to Liscard town centre, and will represent a major investment in the area. Liscard is one of our key retail locations, and it's great to see this support being delivered for local people and businesses."
