Wallace and Gromit are no longer off chasing a were rabbit or an evil chicken, but will be chasing the big screen at Vue Birkenhead this summer.

The classic duo is heading to the cinema to celebrate Aardman Animations' 50th anniversary, according to the Wirral Globe.

As you may have guessed, Aardman is the studio behind the successful franchise, which has also made British classics like Flushed Away, Arthur Christmas, and Chicken Run.

Vue Cinema will host the programme, featuring the studio's beloved family classics. These will include Wallace & Gromit, Chicken Run, Shaun and the Sheep, and more while the kiddies are off for summer.

The programme has already started with two Wallace & Gromit features, A Grand Day Out and The Wrong Trousers. On July 18, the cinema will play A Close Shave and A Matter of Loaf and Death.

But if you want a longer session, The Curse of the Were-Rabbit will be screened from August 1.

Other Aardman favourites returning to cinemas include Chicken Run (July 24), Flushed Away (August 7), The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists! (August 14), and Early Man (August 21).

Shaun the Sheep's big-screen outings will also be included, with Shaun the Sheep Movie showing from August 28 and A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon from September 5.

Vue is also launching its own project, a Summer Family Passport Book, which encourages children to visit the cinema more during the holidays. They can collect stamps in their passport book, which also includes ones for the studio's screenings.

If families share photos of their passport books on a Vue Facebook post, they can be in with a chance to win a £25 Vue gift card.

Families are invited to share photos of their passport books on a dedicated Vue Facebook post for the chance to win a £25 Vue gift card.

Tony Bywood, general manager at Vue Birkenhead, said: "Aardman Animation and its beloved characters have charmed UK audiences since the very first adventure of Wallace & Gromit, and we're thrilled to be able to mark the studio's 50th anniversary by bringing its most iconic stories back to the big screen this summer holiday."

It is worth consulting Vue on tickets, prices and availability for the Aardman screenings.
