Two teenagers have been arrested after a knife was recovered, following an incident in Rockferry.
As reported by Birkenhead News, around 11 pm on Wednesday 29 July, police received reports of a disturbance in the Mulberry Close area, with one male witnessed holding a knife.
Officers attended and detained two males following investigation. After searching a nearby house, a knife was found.
Two 15-year-old boys from Rock Ferry were arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and affray. They remain in police custody for questioning.
The incident comes shortly after police introduced increased stop-and-search powers in the region, which ended on July 15. Rockferry residents had mixed opinions on the motion and crime in the area.
Detective Chief Inspector Peter Stephenson said in a statement: "We are grateful to the person who reported this matter to us. I would be keen to encourage people in the community to report any concerns directly to us so we can take positive action.
He continued, "Our officers are committed to targeting anyone who stores, carries and uses weapons for a criminal purpose. We continue to seek out those involved in serious violence and organised crime, enticing young and vulnerable people to become involved in criminality."
