A Tranmere man has been handed a suspended prison sentence after pleading guilty to drug driving and other motoring offences.
As reported by the Wirral Globe, Robert McGivney, 46, of Willowbank Road, Tranmere, appeared at Wirral Magistrates Court. He admitted three counts of drug driving, driving whilst disqualified and driving without third-party insurance.
Each offence was committed on 8 December 2025 while the 46-year-old was driving on Grosvenor Road in Birkenhead.
The court heard McGivney gave a reading of 65 micrograms of cocaine per litre of blood, which is more than six times the legal limit of 10 micrograms. He also tested positive for 400 micrograms of benzoylecgonine per litre of blood, which is eight times the legal 50 microgram limit, and 7.2 micrograms of cannabis per litre of blood when the limit is two micrograms.
McGivney was given a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for a year. He was disqualified from driving for three years and ordered to undertake drug rehabilitation and provide samples for six months.
