A teenager, who was a supporter of Tranmere Rovers, has been banned from attending any football matches in the UK for three years after he threw a lit flare at fans from the club's opposition.
The 16-year-old boy from the Wirral, who can't be named, pleaded guilty to throwing the pyrotechnic and was issued with the banning order at Liverpool Youth Court on 21 July.
The related incident happened during the final game of the club's past season on 2 May. Tranmere were playing Grimsby Town on their home turf, where they drew. The teenager threw a lit flare towards Grimsby supporters in the Cow Shed stand.
Inspector Stuart McLoughlin said in a statement: "This ban prevents the teenage male from attending any football game in the country. We are committed to supporting Tranmere Rovers in the delivery of a safe event and ensure that all match-goers, regardless of who they support, can enjoy the game safely."
