Young people, families and youth organisations are being asked to have their say on the future of youth services across the Wirral through a new survey.
The Wirral Youth Alliance has launched the survey in partnership with Wirral CVS, Wirral Council Youth Services and Together Wirral Churches. It aims to map existing provision for young people, identify gaps, and help develop a more joined-up approach to supporting them across the area.
Specifically, they want to hear from people aged 11 to 19 (and up to 25 for those with additional needs), parents, carers, or statutory services and voluntary organisations providing support for young people.
Members of the Wirral Youth Alliance include The Hive Youth Zone, Equilibrium North West, Wirral Council Youth Services, WEB Merseyside, Neo Community, Shaftesbury Youth Club, Wirral CVS, Gautby Road Community Centre, Together Wirral Churches Forum and Wirral Youth for Christ.
Workshops for young people are taking place across the summer to ensure their voices are heard in the project before the report is published, which is scheduled for the end of 2026.
Adam Mellor, chief executive of Shaftesbury Youth Club and chair of the Wirral Youth Alliance, said: "We have an opportunity to turn the ambitions of the National Youth Strategy into meaningful local action that improves young people's lives over the next ten years.
He continued, "We want young people to be genuine partners in this work, including those who do not currently access places like The Hive, Shaftesbury Youth Club or other established youth provision. The survey is an opportunity to reach them, understand what support and activities they want, and make sure they know what is available."
The Wirral Youth Alliance was established in 2025 through Cradle to Career, a place-based change initiative managed by charity Right to Succeed, initiated and funded by the Steve Morgan Foundation and co-commissioned by Wirral Council, with additional funding from SHINE Trust and UBS Optimus Foundation.
Shannon Kaiser, programme manager for community and family services at Right to Succeed, said: "Throughout six years of Cradle to Career in North Birkenhead, we have worked alongside youth organisations to understand how they can sustainably deliver vital services for young people, and that is what has inspired the Wirral Youth Alliance.
"It's exciting to see the Alliance leading the survey project to build a clearer picture of youth provision across the borough. Young people's involvement is essential to that."
