A former pilot who travelled from Reading to Merseyside to rape a child he had groomed online has been jailed for eight years and four months.

Kwame Yeboah, 30, of Drake Way in Reading, pleaded guilty at Liverpool Crown Court to three counts of rape of a girl under 13 and one count of sexual assault of a girl under 13. He was sentenced on Wednesday, 24 June.

According to Birkenhead News, Yeoboah made the almost 4-hour journey from his home to meet the child on a night in February 2026. He drove her around and then took her to an isolated location and raped her three times. After the horrifying incident, he dropped her off near where he had picked her up and drove away.

The victim later told the police she struggled to understand what was happening. She also said she felt nervous and scared during the ordeal.

As part of his conviction, Yeboah will serve a further year on licence and is subject to a 15-year restraining order.

Senior Crown Prosecutor Thomas Hanlon, of CPS Mersey-Cheshire's Rape and Serious Sexual Offences unit, said Yeboah would have known early on that the victim was not the age she initially claimed to be.

"She spoke about school and sent images of herself in school uniform. When he met her in person, it would have been obvious that she was a very young child," he said.

He continued, "Despite this, Yeboah deliberately took her to an isolated location where he raped her three times. He groomed the victim into believing she was in a relationship with someone who cared about her. In reality, he was an adult man who abused his position and exploited her for his own sexual gratification."

Detective Constable Roxana Tusa from Merseyside Police's Child Criminal and Sexual Exploitation Team said the investigation proved Yeboah was a dangerous sexual offender.

"After contacting his victim online, he groomed her, and then travelled to Merseyside in order to abuse her, admitting his guilt only when confronted with the case against him," she said.

"We hope that the swift identification and prosecution of Yeboah does at least offer some comfort to the victim and her family moving forward," she concluded.
