One person and two dogs were rescued from a major fire at a car repair garage in Tranmere on 25 September.
As reported by the Wirral Globe, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service was called to the garage and adjoining two-storey property on Dial Road at around 11:35 pm on Friday.
A total of eight fire engines and an aerial appliance were initially sent to the scene. Crews arrived and found the single-storey garage well alight. The cause of the fire has not been revealed yet.
Firefighters rescued one person from a first-floor bedroom window of the neighbouring property. They used a triple extension ladder to reach them. Two dogs were also rescued while emergency services assessed the rescued person.
Crews wearing breathing equipment were seen entering the property to search for anyone else inside the flat and to tackle the fire. More firefighters at the scene forced entry to the garage through its roller shutters.
Merseyside Police and North West Ambulance Service also attended the scene.
Later, ten fire engines arrived as the blaze intensified, with 14 eventually being at the scene at one time.
The fire spread across an area measuring around 40 metres by 50 metres on a confined site surrounded by terraced housing. The garage was understood to contain around 40 vehicles.
A structural engineer, Wirral Council emergency planning officers, utility companies and other emergency services took part in multi-agency meetings as firefighters worked through the night.
The fire was extinguished at around 5:40 am on 26 September. Crews remained at the scene to dampen any fire hotspots and monitor the incident.
Road closures were introduced on Greenway Road and Church Road while Scottish Power worked to isolate electricity supplies.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said crews finally left the scene at 9:41 am on Monday, September 28, after all areas were checked and deemed free of fire, with temperatures returning to normal.
Local councillor Tony Murphy said: "Thank goodness no one was hurt. The Police have informed local Councillors that no one had to be evacuated, but one person was treated for smoke inhalation."
