A New Ferry man has been jailed for making, distributing and possessing hundreds of indecent images of children.
As reported by the Wirral Globe, Antony Smith, 33, of 65B New Chester Road, was sentenced to two years and ten months at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday 20 July after admitting to a string of serious offences.
Smith pleaded guilty to possession of 585 indecent images in Categories A, B and C. Category A images are the most serious, depicting penetrative sexual activity with children.
Smith admitted to making indecent images of children, including 241 images and videos in Category A, and distributing indecent images, including 78 in the most serious category.
He also pleaded guilty to further charges, including guilty to possession of six extreme pornographic images portraying sexual activity with an animal.
The court sentenced Smith to three years in custody, and it was ordered that his mobile phone be taken away indefinitely. He was also ordered to sign the sex offenders' register, also indefinitely.
Smith must pay a £228 victim surcharge and will return to court today to receive a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
