A Wirral charity leader has died unexpectedly at the age of 33, shocking his colleagues and the local community, as reported by the Wirral Globe.
Ben Duggan was a manager at Dementia Together Wirral, based in Birkenhead. He passed away last weekend. Mr Duggan joined the charity in February 2025, after working at Wirral Mencap and Autism Together beforehand.
As well as being involved in the charity, he was also involved with Chester FC, joining the club's board during the summer. At 33, he was the club's youngest director.
John Rowson, chair of Dementia Together Wirral, said in a statement: "Ben's death is a devastating loss, one we will feel deeply for a long time. He gave so much to the charity and to the people we support, and was held in great affection by our members, volunteers, staff and trustees. His warmth, kindness and dedication touched so many people. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ben's family and friends at this incredibly difficult time."
Dementia Together supports people across the Wirral living with dementia as well as their carers.
Chester FC also said they will pay tribute to Mr Duggan in the upcoming game against Worksop Town.
In their own statement, the club said they were shocked by his death and reflected on his work at the club.
Part of the statement read: "He had taken on the Fan Engagement and Membership portfolio, and in that short time had produced a strategy that promised to improve many areas of the club."
Mr Duggan's cause of death hasn't been disclosed.
