A 31-year-old Wirral man has been sentenced after admitting to possessing more than 1,000 indecent images and videos of children, along with extreme pornographic images of bestiality.
As reported by the Wirral Globe, Scott Lewis, of Burnside Road, Poulton, in Wallasey, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court via video link from HMP Liverpool on Wednesday, September 23, after pleading guilty to six offences.
Lewis was in custody after he was jailed for a week for breaking his bail conditions by failing to attend a previous hearing.
Prosecutor Derek Jones described how officers conducted a search warrant at Lewis's address on May 7, 2025, after receiving intelligence on Lewis. They seized various electronic devices, three of which contained indecent images of children.
The devices held 346 Category A images, the most severe classification of child sexual abuse material, including 39 videos. Officers also found 324 Category B images, including 11 videos, and 600 Category C images, including eight videos.
Some of the Category A material showed children as young as three years old, the court heard.
Officers also discovered 20 prohibited images of children, described as cartoons, along with 26 images of bestiality. Evidence showed Lewis had been actively searching for child pornography.
Lewis had previous convictions for battery and criminal damage, the court heard.
Charles Lander, defending, said Lewis "accepted he had issues" and that "the last few weeks had been particularly difficult as for the first time he has found himself in custody."
Mr Lander added that Lewis "was clearly someone with mental health issues."
He said: "He's heard that bang of the prison door and had that experience of what it's like to be in custody, and it has not been an enjoyable experience for him. He is determined to move on from this and find work and promises to lead a law-abiding lifestyle."
Sentencing Lewis, Recorder Eric Lamb described the images as "disgusting." Lewis pleaded guilty to three counts of making Category A, B and C indecent images of children, possession of indecent images of children, possession of prohibited images of children, and possession of extreme pornographic images.
Lewis was sentenced to 19 months in prison, suspended for 24 months. He must complete 25 days of a rehabilitation activity requirement within the next 18 months, sign the sex offenders' register for 10 years, and be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years.
