The Queensway Tunnel is set to close over five times this month for essential maintenance work, according to the Liverpool Echo. The tunnel will be closed to all traffic during the following evenings:
21:00 on 20 July through to 06: 30 on 21 July.
2100 on 21 July through to 06:30 on 22 July.
21:00 on 22 July through to 06:30 on 23 July.
2100 on 23 July through to 06.30 on 24 July.
21:00 on 24 July through to 06:30 on 25 July.
The Wallasey Tunnel will still be open during these times, but of course you'd better prepare for longer journeys and waiting times. Now, onto Wirral traffic and closures.
A stretch of Kylemore Drive in Pensby will close to vehicles later this month while roadworks take place.
Wirral Council has issued a temporary traffic order closing a 30-metre section of the road from 22 July. The closure will begin 30 metres west of the junction with Alexander Drive.
The works are expected to be completed by 31 July, though the order allows for up to 18 months if needed.
Pedestrians and cyclists will still be able to use the road during the closure. Drivers will need to follow a signed diversion route via Irby Road, Pensby Road and back onto Kylemore Drive.
Other roadworks across the Wirral to be aware of:
Borough Road Flyover, Birkenhead: The flyover will be closed from 20 July for maintenance work. The closure is expected to finish by 14 August, with signed diversion routes in place.
Kirby Park, West Kirby: Part of Kirby Park will be closed to vehicles from 27 July while work takes place. Pedestrians and cyclists will still be able to get through, and the work is expected to finish by 21 August. Alternative routes include: Caldy Road, Village Road, Devonshire Road, and Kirby Park.
Irby Road, Pensby: A section of Irby Road will close to traffic from 20 July for roadworks. Pedestrians and cyclists can still use the route, with work expected to be completed by 1 September. Other routes listed are: Thingwall Road, Wales Avenue, Pensby Road, and Fishers Lane.
