Former Liverpool, Blackpool and Watford winger Tom Ince is on trial with Tranmere Rovers. He is seeking a new club following leaving searches for a new club following his summer departure from Watford after being released.
Ince, 34, featured in Rovers' 2-0 pre-season victory against his former club Blackpool at Prenton Park on Saturday, as reported by the Wirral Globe. He is hoping to impress Tranmere, who are looking to bounce back after finishing fourth from bottom in League Two last season.
The winger joined Watford in 2023 and made 93 appearances in all competitions, scoring 11 goals including a hat-trick in a 3-0 victory over Birmingham City on New Year's Day.
After his departure from Vicarage Road, Watford chief executive Scott Duxbury said: "He's been fantastic. He's a really good professional, he's fantastic around the place. He gave his all in training and was one of the best trainers we have had, every coach said that to me. He was a really good influence in the changing room, and he will be sorely missed."
Ince, son of former England, Manchester United and Liverpool midfielder Paul Ince, began his career at Liverpool. He made his professional debut in the 2010–11 season as a substitute in the League Cup.
He moved to Blackpool following their relegation from the Premier League, where he played over 100 games and scored 33 goals. During his time at Bloomfield Road, he played under his father, who managed the club between 2013 and 2014.
Rumours circulated that while at Blackpool, Ince was approached to re-sign for Liverpool, and even turned down positions at Inter Milan and Monaco. Also in his career, he has had stints at Reading, Stoke, Derby County and Huddersfield.
