The Wirral Walk is set to return this month as organisers mark a major milestone in the event’s history.

The monumental milestone will take place on June 7 as it does every year, celebrating its 40th anniversary. In relation to the special number, the fundraising efforts will focus on the well-known local charity Stick 'n' Step, according to Birkenhead News. The charity supports children and young people with cerebral palsy.

We previously reported that Stick 'n' Step is set for a larger charity event in July, a 14-mile kayaking challenge beginning in West Kirby on July 12.

So this is where the help is needed. The organisers are looking for 40 walkers to meet their fundraising goals. The walk will begin outside the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton. People can arrive between 8:30 and 10:30 am. It will finish at the Thurstaston Visitor Center in Wirral Country Park, with the latest finish scheduled for 5pm.

The annual event, organised by Mid Wirral Rotary Club, invites participants of all ages and abilities to take on a scenic route along the Wirral coastline while raising money for charity.

Funds raised this year will go towards Stick ‘n’ Step’s work providing specialist conductive education sessions up to age 25, which aim to improve mobility, confidence, and independence for children and their families across the region.

The charity supports large numbers of people through its centres in Wallasey and Runcorn, and needs fundraising to continue its hard work.

Netty Doyle said in a statement: “As we celebrate 40 years of the Wirral Walk, we’re calling on the community to come together and make a real difference. By taking part and raising just £40, walkers will directly help local children thrive.”

Those interested in taking part can register via the Wirral Coastal Walk website.
