Volunteers providing vital charity work across Birkenhead have been celebrated for their dedication to the local community, according to Birkenhead News.
The recognition highlights the critical role played by volunteer teams in delivering support services to residents in the area.
The Salvation Army has thanked the Birkenhead community for its support as it celebrates Volunteers Week, from June 1 to June 6.
The charity, based on Vincent Street, is recognising the contribution of more than 20 volunteers using their time throughout the year to help support local people facing hardship.
Volunteers work across a range of activities from running local coffee mornings and working away in the charity shop to supporting seasonal initiatives like the familiar Christmas Present Appeal.
The charity has expressed the importance of volunteers now more than ever. With rising food prices, high energy bills, and a mounting cost of living, they are greatly needed.
Major Hamilton, church leader at The Salvation Army in Birkenhead, said volunteers are at the heart of the organisation's work.
He said in a statement: "We're incredibly grateful for everything our volunteers do. Without their generosity and commitment, we simply wouldn't be able to support as many people in our community as we do."
He continued, "The time they give makes a real difference to the lives of people across Birkenhead and helps strengthen the community we serve."
Major Hamilton added that volunteers do more than provide practical help. They bring fresh ideas of how to help people and assist the organisation in improving its services.
He said their dedication allows The Salvation Army to reach more people and continue supporting some of the most vulnerable members of the community.
