Hit Merseyside comedy Desperate Scousewives is bringing its first-ever UK tour to a local venue, according to the Birkenhead News. And you can attend.

Yes, the Scouse-centric comedy is coming to Port Sunlight this week, with the Gladstone Theatre hosting the show on Thursday, 5 June.

Benidorm and I'm a Celebrity star Crissy Rock leads the all-female cast as Lily in Desperate Scousewives: Lily's Story, which is playing 22 dates at 18 venues between 13 May and 20 June. The tour has already kicked off with a bang and is expected to do the same in the Wirral.

The Port Sunlight show is one of four Merseyside dates this month, with the local show already sold out. After Port Sunlight, it plays two shows at The Atkinson in Southport on 11 June, St Helens Theatre Royal on 12 June, and three shows at Liverpool's Epstein Theatre on 16-17 June.

Written, directed, and starring Lynne Fitzgerald as Susan, the cast also includes Lynn Francis as Tricia and Samantha Alton as Vanessa.

The fast-paced comedy follows the lives of three no-nonsense Liverpool women and one nervous newcomer navigating life, love, and loyalty on a tight-knit street. The three women rule the roost with their big personalities and tightly kept secrets, until a new single mother on the block, Trisha, from neighbouring Manchester, upsets the balance.

Desperate Scousewives is an acclaimed series of four plays, each told from the perspective of one of the foursome.

Fitzgerald said in a statement, "I'm thrilled Desperate Scousewives is on tour. The plays form a quartet, with each of the characters having their own story, so each show stands alone, yet together they create the full, hilarious world I envisioned. She continued,

"When I first wrote the character Lily, I was already a huge fan of Crissy Rock and had been lucky enough to work with her on stage many times over the years. I always wrote Lily with Crissy in mind, so to now have her performing Lily on tour is the pinnacle of my writing career."

Returning to Merseyside in November is Desperate Scousewives: Nessa’s Story, returning to the same venues with more Scouse scandal. The show will play at the Gladstone Theatre on November 11 and 12.
