A 20-year-old man has been charged with aggravated burglary following an incident that left a teenager with head and hand injuries requiring hospital treatment.
As reported by The Standard, Mason Ireland, of Egerton Street, New Brighton, appeared at Wirral adult remand court today. He was charged and remanded in custody.
His charge follows an incident on 17 October on Seaview Road in Liscard. A 17-year-old male was assaulted inside a property, prompting police to later search.
Police were called at around 1:15 pm after reports were made that a teenager was assaulted by another male. He suffered laceration injuries to his head and hand which required hospital treatment.
The incident led to the closure of the nearby Earlston Cemetery for most of Saturday. Officers searched the grounds, and the Seaview Road property. A cordon was put in place, blocking all six entrances to the cemetery.
Police continue to conduct CCTV, witness and forensic enquiries, as well as house-to-house investigations.
Detective Inspector Peter Rexwinkel appealed for information, saying: "Although we have a man in custody we would continue to appeal to anyone who was in the area of Seaview Road in Liscard this afternoon who saw or heard anything suspicious to contact us as a matter of urgency."
