A Wirral man has been given a suspended prison sentence after admitting he downloaded almost 300 indecent images of children, as reported by the Wirral Globe.
Egremont man, Jamie Blackburn, 52, of Crescent Road, appeared at Wirral Magistrates Court on 20 October for his sentencing. He previously plead guilty to possessing 272 indecent photographs of children.
The court heard Blackburn admitted making, which is the legal term for downloading, 61 Category A images, which are the most serious, along with 23 Category B images and 188 Category C images.
He also pleaded guilty to possessing 13 prohibited images of children.
His offences were committed over a two year period, from February 2024 to February 2026.
Magistrates gave Blackburn an eight-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months. The court said the suspension was necessary due to the defendant's previous good character and the work he has done since pleading guilty.
Blackburn was made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for a decade and must sign the Sex Offenders' Register for the same period.
He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £197 victim surcharge.
