Three Wirral pubs have been recognised among the best in Britain in a new national guide. The Magazine Hotel in New Brighton is included, but as it's a hotel, you can be the judge of that!

The Rose and Crown in Bebington and The Plasterers Arms in Hoylake are among 15 Merseyside venues featured in The Telegraph's Guide to the 650 Best Pubs in the UK, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The guide has expanded from including 500 Best Pubs in England to also include other parts of the UK. They are judged based on character, good drinks, and their history, as well as other deciders.

The pubs which made the prestigious list were judged by a panel of experts. They judged based on high-quality drinks, community, and how welcoming the pubs are.

Pubs were chosen by a panel of experts based on a welcoming atmosphere, high-quality drinks and a strong sense of community. The Rose and Crown has been recently refurbished in recent years and specialises in cask beer. It previously ranked in the 500 Best Pubs list. It is owned by husband and wife James and Isla Skinner. They've been the landlords of the pub for eight years.

The Telegraph's beer, food and travel journalist Will Hawkes said: "Despite desperate operating conditions, Britain still has hundreds of magnificent pubs, offering warmth, atmosphere, character and fantastic drinks."

He added: "My colleagues and I have spent the first part of the year scouring the nation to find these magnificent pubs – a truly joyous experience."

The 15 pubs featured include The Roscoe Head, The Vines, The Philharmonic Dining Rooms, The Lion Tavern, Peter Kavanagh's, The Ship & Mitre, Ye Cracke and The Grapes in Liverpool; The Magazine Hotel in New Brighton; The Rose and Crown in Bebington and The Plasterers Arms in Hoylake on the Wirral; The Turks Head and The Cricketers Arms in St Helens; The Volunteer Canteen in Waterloo; and The Scotch Piper in Lydiate.
