A jeweller in New Ferry was targeted yesterday in a robbery that was committed in the daytime.
As reported by the Liverpool Echo, Merseyside Police were called to a shop on Bebington Road at around 11.05 am. Reports said a man had smashed a window before stealing several items of jewellery from inside the premises.
The suspect fled the scene heading towards Grove Street. He was not caught, but when police arrived, they put up a police cordon on the road to carry out forensic examinations.
Detective Inspector Holly Chance said: "We are in the early stages of an investigation following a burglary at an independent family jewellers this morning. Our officers are continuing to carry out extensive CCTV and witness enquiries in the area.
She continued, "I would like to appeal to anyone who thinks they may have information on this burglary to please get in touch. Retail crime has a huge economic impact on independent employers in our community, and we are committed to preventing any further offences."
The inspector urged anyone who was in the area to call the police, and if anyone on the road had CCTV or dashcam footage at the time of the robbery to also call.
