More than 500 runners and walkers gathered in Birkenhead Park on Sunday for a charity fun run that raised over £16,000 for Claire House Children's Hospice. According to the Wirral Globe, the Claire Bear 3K is a race that saw people of all ages create a 3K course around the park.

Many wore on-brand outfits, with Claire Bear ears and T-shirts to support the hospice. By the way, Claire Bear is their beary adorable mascot. Everyone who finished the course earned a medal and met the celebrity bear.

Aside from the course, the event had food stalls, samba music, face painting and bubbles with wholesome family fun.

Liverpool mum Lynsay Murphy, whose family has been supported by Claire House following the loss of their baby boy, Noah, was one of many to take part.

Ms Murphy said: "Doing the Claire Bear 3k has been really nice as it is a way for us to include Noah in our Father's Day plans. Claire House was there for us when we felt completely lost."

She added: "They supported us when we were on the NICU with Noah, and we were able to spend precious time with him in the Butterfly Suite after he passed away. No-one ever expects to be in that situation and at the time we didn't have the mental capacity for things such as planning Noah's funeral, but Claire House helped us with everything."

Ms Murphy said the hospice has continued to support her family with counselling, complementary therapies and activities for siblings, which Noah's big brother Jacob has enjoyed.

Event organiser Mark Pearson said: "It was amazing to see so many children taking part and raising money for other children. The Claire Bear 3k is all about being active, being outdoors, and raising vital funds for your local children's hospice."

The hospice has big plans, continuing its fundraising efforts to help fund their care as well as a planned extension in West Derby, Liverpool, which will come to a decision today in a meeting with Liverpool City Council.
