Councillors will receive an update on progress made since an action plan was approved in response to an independent review of Wirral Council's regeneration programme, according to Birkenhead News.
A report to the Policy and Resources Committee on 22 July details the work carried out since the action plan was approved in December 2025 and sets out plans for the remainder of 2026.
The action plan was developed following an independent review of the council's regeneration activity. It includes measures to strengthen governance, improve delivery arrangements, and build organisational capacity and align regeneration plans with existing resources.
The update highlights several changes, including the return of the Regeneration Programme Board, the creation of a new Regeneration Oversight Group, the appointment of an Interim Director of Capital Programmes and Assets, and stronger checks and reporting processes for projects.
Work to develop new partnerships and delivery models and work to update the borough's 2040 framework are also noted.
The report notes ongoing work to improve financial oversight, risk management and decision-making across regeneration projects.
Partnership work is also moving forward, including the approved Wirral Place Partnership and plans for future strategic housing and regeneration delivery arrangements.
Some actions have now been completed, while others are still being developed and will continue to progress throughout 2026.
