Citizens Advice Wirral is inviting people from across the borough to consider becoming a trustee and help shape the future of one of Wirral's leading advice charities.
As reported by Birkenhead News, they're looking for people to join the Board of Trustees for leadership and governing purposes to maintain high-quality and accessible advice.
Particularly, the charity is seeking those from diverse backgrounds, perspectives and experiences. They stress that previous trustee experience isn't needed. What they welcome is people who have professional expertise, lived experiences, or a passion for supporting their community.
Citizens Advice Wirral is especially encouraging applications from Wirral residents who have used its services, people from underrepresented communities, women, young people and members of LGBTQ+ communities.
Recently, Citizens Advice Wirral even recruited a single mum to be a volunteer. She accessed their services through a Family Hub in Seacombe. Emma became acquainted with an employee of the charity, Joanne, who recommended she join them. Emma is set to go through training as a volunteer and will be placed in one of the Family Hubs across the Wirral.
The charity wants to diversify its Board to reflect all of the communities it serves. What trustees do is they work with local people while helping to guide the direction of the company or charity they work for. Trustees and Board members work together with the leadership team to oversee the operation, sustainability and development of the company they are working for.
Carol Johnson-Eyre, Chief Executive of Citizens Advice Wirral, said in a statement: "Our trustees play a vital role in helping us support local people and meet the changing needs of our communities. We're looking for people with a range of skills, experiences and perspectives who want to make a positive difference. If you're passionate about Wirral and want to help shape the future of our charity, we'd love to hear from you."
