Commuters travelling from Heswall and the surrounding area faced disruption this morning after a train broke down at Hamilton Square station.
Merseyrail confirmed that services on the West Kirby line, which serves Heswall, cannot run between Birkenhead North and Hamilton Square. The Chester and New Brighton lines are also affected, with some services cancelled.
The disruption began during the Thursday morning rush hour, with Merseyrail posting updates on social media from around 9:15 am.
Many trains returned to normal after, but delays continued on the way to New Brighton.
Passengers are advised to check the Merseyrail website or app for the latest service information before travelling.
