Hoylake RNLI lifeboat station has paid tribute to long-serving lifeboat visits officer Brian Jordan, who has passed away.

He dedicated countless hours to welcoming visitors to the lifeboat station, sharing the RNLI's lifesaving story and inspiring people of all ages with his warmth, knowledge and enthusiasm.

Through his role, Brian introduced thousands of children, young people and adults to the work of the RNLI.

He helped formalise the role of Lifeboat Visits Officer at Hoylake RNLI, creating new ways to organise and deliver visits while ensuring they remained engaging and accessible.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, when visitors could no longer come to the station, Brian adapted by delivering virtual presentations, allowing him to continue connecting with groups and sharing vital water safety messages at a time when communities needed such connections more than ever.

Last year he introduced Hoylake RNLI’s first-ever festive ‘Photo With Santa Day’, which proved to be a huge success.

Through his presentations and visits, he also helped raise many thousands of pounds to support the RNLI's lifesaving work.

Chairman of the Hoylake and West Kirby RNLI Management Group, John Curry, said: "Brian Jordan truly revolutionised RNLI talks and station visits in this area.

"He raised huge sums of money for Hoylake and West Kirby RNLI in the course of his dedicated work.

"Brian built up a team to assist him and, without doubt, he was the driving force.

"At Management Group meetings, Brian always provided invaluable contributions to discussions.

"Most importantly, Brian was a good friend to us all and always someone it was a pleasure to be with. He will be sorely missed by us all and we mourn his passing."

The flag at Hoylake RNLI lifeboat station will be flying at half-mast as a mark of respect.
