Pride is back for its fifth year at New Brighton's Victoria Quarter this weekend.
As reported by the Wirral Globe, Wirral Pride will run from 10:30 am to 6 pm on August 8 this weekend, making Victoria Road into a space to celebrate, with live music and entertainment for everyone.
Birkenhead singer Benjamin Gillham will perform at 2.10 pm. He caught the eye of talent show producers after a viral karaoke video earlier this year. Mandi Fisher returns to the Wirral Pride stage at 5.15 pm.
The full line-up includes: DJ Jules, Liverpool Rainbow Chorus, Richard Sefton, Matthew Joseph, Electric Disco Thing featuring Jason Dignam, Patrick Saint James and Freedom Dance Studios. A British Sign Language interpreter will be on the main stage throughout the day.
For all your crafty needs, the Pride Market opens at 10:30 am. Food and drink traders will be on hand throughout the day to serve refreshments. And a dog show is also planned for the day.
Jamie Lee Carter, founder and director of Wirral Pride, said: "Visibility is the foundation of our progress. When we come together as a community, we are doing so much more than celebrating – we are making a powerful statement of unity and resilience.
"Pride is our dedicated moment to remember the trailblazers who fought for the rights we hold today, to stand in steadfast solidarity with exactly where we are right now, and to collectively shape a future where every single person can live authentically and unapologetically."
Carter urged everyone in the local area to come and celebrate Pride.
The event is free, open to all ages, and welcomes everyone from the LGBTQ+ community and their allies.
