Entries for the BTR Wirral 10K have passed the 1,000 mark, with a month still to go till the race. As reported by Birkenhead News, the event takes place on 11 October and is expected to sell out.
The event is due to start at 9:30 am.
The race is on its 13th run and is returning to King's Parade in New Brighton for the first time in five years. An Event Village will be located at The Dips.
The route will see runners pass the boating lake and along Ian Fraser Walk towards Fort Perch Rock, before heading along the promenade to the 5K turnaround point at Seacombe Ferry. The course is mostly flat, making it ideal for runners aiming for a personal best or tackling their first 10K.
Regardless of place, each finisher in the race will get a goody bag, a T-shirt, and a medal. You can enter the race online at btrliverpool.com.
Not everything is set to be smooth sailing, though, as runners are advised to plan their journeys carefully, as planned works are taking place on the Merseyrail Northern Line on race day.
Northern Line trains from the north will terminate at Sandhills, while those from the south will terminate at Hunts Cross, with replacement buses running into the city centre. All Wirral Line services will run from James Street Station.
Alan Rothwell, BTR Liverpool founder, said: "The popularity of the BTR Wirral 10K is steadily building each year. Numbers are up again, and we've already raced past last year's final number still with over a month to go."
He added: "The Wirral 10K is always popular given its location and fairly flat route – and we're on course to sell out of places. It's the perfect race for runners to really test themselves and aim for a personal best."
