Countryside Properties has been picked to deliver a new housing development in Wallasey, according to property publication Place North West.
75 new affordable homes will be built where the town hall annexes stood off Brighton Street in Seacombe.
The plans are set for the affordable homes on two half-acre sites after the previous buildings were demolished in 2024. They were vacant for four years before that.
Early design details suggest the buildings could be up to four storeys, although plans could change during the detailed design stage.
Wirral Council said demand for affordable housing in the borough continues to rise, particularly for affordable rented homes. The redevelopment is being backed by £2.3 million from the government’s Brownfield Land Release Fund, with the council estimating the scheme could have a gross development value of between £18 million and £24 million, including VAT.
Leader of Wirral Council, Cllr Paula Basnett, said on the development: "This development represents a major opportunity to bring new life into a key part of our borough and deliver the high-quality affordable homes local people desperately need."
No further details of the planning development have been revealed so far. Stay tuned for more.
