A golfer from Heswall has recorded his first hole-in-one at Wallasey Golf Club, finding the cup on the course's celebrated 12th hole.

As reported by The Golf Post, Ian Peters achieved the milestone shot on the par-3, which has earned a reputation as one of the standout holes on the historic links course. The moment was marked with the traditional champagne celebration reserved for such occasions at the club.

The 12th hole at the club is known to be hard, even for seasoned golfers.

Wallasey Golf Club is a prominent fixture of golfing in England, having been open since 1891. The club has hosted Open Championship qualification rounds on four occasions. It has also hosted prestigious tournaments and drawn golfers seeking the authentic challenge of a classic English links.

Meanwhile, Heswall Golf Club reached another milestone recently; it now allows hole-in-one celebrations with alcohol before 11 am. Yes, the club is now allowed to serve alcohol course-wide before noon even comes. Members of the club complained they couldn't celebrate a hole-in-one before 11 am as the club's alcohol licence didn't allow it.

So maybe if Ian heads back to his home turf, he can celebrate the same way if he can get another hole-in-one!
