West Kirby Rotary Club has raised £1,000 to help provide relief for people affected by the recent disaster in Nepal.
More than 1,300 people were killed in the floods triggered by a glacial collapse near the Nepal-Tibet border, with 5,000 still missing including more than 30 British nationals.
Rotary volunteers spent a day fundraising at Morrisons as well as securing donations from contacts and friends.
Angela Macauley from the Rotary said: "We are deeply grateful for their support and would like to thank Morrisons staff and customers for their generosity, compassion, and genuine interest throughout the day.
"Nepal holds a special place in our hearts. One of our members, Jenni, has long-standing ties to the community and has travelled there for many years at her own expense, giving her time and medical expertise to support people living in severe poverty.
"Her work has included educating young girls on health and wellbeing and helping to address period poverty through sustainable, practical projects.
"Many of Jenni’s friends and colleagues were directly affected by the recent disaster. Having watched the devastating scenes unfold, our club felt compelled to act. Jenni has spoken to us on several occasions about the immense challenges faced by Nepalese communities, but also about their warmth, resilience, and hospitality — qualities that have drawn her back time and again."
The funding is going to Health Exchange Nepal (HExN), a charity which operates with no administration costs, meaning every penny donated will go directly to help those affected.
