Marine Lake Health and Wellbeing Centre is to merge with another GP practice.
In a joint message to patients on their website, the Orrysdale Road centre says joining with Thingwall-based West Wirral Group Practice (The Warrens) to create Links Medical will "provide sustainable, high-quality healthcare for our community, now and in the future".
They said: "Like GP practices across the country, we are seeing increasing demand for services, challenges in recruiting healthcare professionals, and rising pressures on general practice. By joining together, we can strengthen our teams, share expertise and invest in new services, while continuing to deliver the personalised care our patients value.
"For patients, this means improved access to appointments, a broader range of clinical expertise and greater opportunities to benefit from specialist services and innovative healthcare, including expanded dermatology services and access to leading clinical research. Both practice sites will remain open, allowing patients to continue receiving care close to home and, wherever possible, from the clinicians they know and trust.
They added: "Our merger is about building on the strengths of both practices rather than changing what matters most. We remain committed to continuity of care, local access and strong relationships with our patients. By working as one organisation, we can create a more resilient practice that is better equipped to meet the healthcare needs of our community for many years to come.
"Throughout this journey, we will continue to keep patients informed and work closely with our Patient Participation Groups to ensure that patient voices help shape the future of Links Medical."
Despite the pledge to keep patients informed, it does not appear that people registered with Marine Lake have been contacted directly to tell them about the forthcoming change, and there is no mention of it on their Facebook page.
A number of drop-in sessions about the plans for patients at the centre have already been held, with a further event taking place on Tuesday 6 October from 3 - 5pm.
