West Kirby RNLI have partnered with The West Kirby Bookshop to celebrate the publication of a new book.

The event will take place at the bookshop on Thursday 9 April at 7pm (note change of venue).

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear directly from the author of Lifeboat at the End of the World, Dominic Gregory, about his debut memoir.

It is described as ‘a truly unforgettable memoir of courage and the moral imperative to save lives at sea' (Independent) and 'a hymn to human decency, a very timely book' (Tim Winton).

The evening will be hosted by Jordan from the bookshop, who will be in conversation with Dominic, sharing his wealth of experiences as an RNLI crewman, before questions from the audience and contributions from West Kirby RNLI.

Jordan Taylor-Jones, The West Kirby Bookshop, said: "We're thrilled to be partnering with West Kirby RNLI to celebrate Dominic Gregory's exceptional debut book, Lifeboat at the End of the World, which charts Dominic's experiences as an RNLI crewman in Dungeness.

"The RNLI are an integral and vital part of West Kirby's community and we’re pleased to be supporting them with a portion of the proceeds from the event going towards the RNLI. It should be a fantastic evening and we look forward to seeing you there!"

Gary Price, West Kirby RNLI Launch Authority, said: "We’re really looking forward to working with The West Kirby Bookshop on this event. It will be particularly interesting to hear about the similarities and differences between the stories told by Dominic, inspired by Dungeness RNLI, and those from our local crew in West Kirby.

"It’s a great opportunity to bring our community together, celebrate Dominic’s story on saving lives at sea and share insights into the real life experiences of our volunteer crew. We hope to see many of you there and extend huge thanks and gratitude to The West Kirby Bookshop for the invite and kind donation of a portion of the proceeds."

Tickets are £8 standard admission or £24 including a copy of Lifeboat at the End of the World, with a portion of ticket sales donated to West Kirby RNLI. There will also be collection buckets on the night for donations. They can be purchased online via this link, or alternatively, in store from The West Kirby Bookshop, 20 Grange Road, West Kirby, CH48 4HA.
