Plans have been submitted to turn a former toilet block in Meols into a cafe and ice cream parlour.

Wirral Council disposed of the site, at the junction of Meols Parade and Bennets Lane, as part of a fire sale of assets to help pay back a government bailout of its finances.

Online records show that it was sold at auction for £104,000 in February 2026.

An application by The Waterfalls Parlour Ltd proposes internal and external alterations to divide the block on Meols Parade into two separate units.

It adds: "This will involve bricking up the side and rear entrances, installing a new service window in the south west elevation and building new shop front windows and door entrances in the front / north west elevation facing Meols Parade.

"The side windows and proposed shop fronts will have external roller shutters with provision for a small signage area at the top of each roller shutter.

"Internally each shop will have a sales counter, walk in serving area and disabled W.C provision."
