Merseyside Police have introduced a Dispersal Zone in West Kirby following an increase in anti-social behaviour.

The order will be in until 3.59pm on Friday 10 April.

The order gives them powers to order people they suspect are causing or likely to cause crime, nuisance or anti-social behaviour to members of the public to leave a designated area and not return for up to 48 hours.

Under the legislation, officers have the power to seize any item, including vehicles, used in the commission of anti-social behaviour.

Should a person who has previously been directed to leave the area return, an offence would be committed, which they may ultimately be arrested for.

The dispersal zone will cover Croft Drive, Croft Drive East, Caldy Road, Village Road, Hilbre View, Grange Road, Orrysdale Road, Bridge Road, Meols Drive, Pinfold Lane, West Kirby Beach and Caldy Beach.

Officers will be in the area to provide a high visible presence and deal with any incidents.

A Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) is already in place in the area to combat anti-social behaviour.
