Three women artists are presenting different views of coastal life in a new exhibition at a New Brighton gallery.

The Power of Three opened at The Hatch on Victoria Road on September 25 and runs until November 7. The free exhibition features work by Wirral artists Collette Collinge and Gail Eglin, alongside Christine Holme, who paints from her studio in Ellesmere Port, as reported by the Wirral Globe.

All three ladies have design and arts backgrounds. In fact, Ms Eglin and Ms Holme recently discovered they attended the same art college several decades ago.

Ms Collinge's collection, titled Seas The Moment, reflects life around the Wirral coast. Her work is across paint and print, with collections worldwide in Japan and the United States. The full-time professional artist works across painting and print, with pieces in private collections in countries including Japan and the United States. Her work combines changing views of the Irish Sea with observations of everyday life on New Brighton beach.

Ms Eglin's collection, At the Edge of a Velvet Tide, is inspired by marine life, coasta swimmers, marine life and takes inspiration from surge tides, marine life, bird flocks and coastal swimmers. She uses collagraph printmaking and cyanotypes.

Her work includes hand-photographed images of New Brighton street art. She creates printing plates from recycled Tetra Pak and cardboard, then uses an intaglio press at The Bluecoat in Liverpool.

Ms Holme's collection, Return to Iona, focuses on the Scottish island through paintings of its rocks, waters and landscapes. The fine art graduate and former primary school teacher produces the works at her Ellesmere Port studio.

Owner Anneley Pickles said: "It has been an absolute joy to bring the work of these three brilliant artists together in one space. They each view the world through a unique lens and give so much of themselves in their craft."

The private viewing on September 25 was attended by the Mayor and members of the local community. The exhibition is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm, with free admission.
