A Moreton woman has been charged with six shoplifting offences. Reports surfaced of a woman attempting to leave multiple supermarkets across the Wirral with trolleys full of goods.
As reported by Birkenhead News, Molly Henry, 29, of Wildbrook Drive in Bidston, has been charged with theft from a shop in connection with incidents at Asda, Sainsbury's and other stores between June and September this year.
The first reported theft took place between 7 and 8 am on 20 June. A woman allegedly attempted to walk out of Asda Woodchurch with goods in a trolley without paying.
Another incident was reported six weeks later at Asda on Grange Road. At around 5 pm on August 8, a woman was stopped from leaving with a trolley containing a Henry vacuum cleaner, a Hetty vacuum cleaner, and pots and pans. The items were recovered by staff.
At approximately 4:20 pm on 17 August, a woman was seen trying to leave Sainsbury's on the Upton bypass with a trolley full of stuff. She was stopped by security and made off on foot without the items.
Three other incidents were reported this month. At 7 pm on 1 September at Asda Woodchurch, a woman allegedly filled a trolley and left without attempting to pay.
A week later on 8 September, two more incidents were reported. At 6:20 pm on that day, a woman left Asda at the Croft Retail Park, again with a full trolley with goods worth over £1,000. The same woman allegedly struck again at 7:45 pm at Asda Woodchurch, walking past payment points without paying for a trolley and the items inside.
Henry was remanded into custody to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Thursday 17 September.
The charges come just after Merseyside Police launched Operation Dale last month, which aims to tackle retail-related crime by delivering quick sentences for victims of theft and investigating wider criminality of repeat thieves.
